Digg Detroit

Posted April 27th, 2008 by 313rd

WE ARE TIRED OF NEGATIVE PRESS.
And this is a campaign to make our own headline. Literally.

Millions of dollars have been invested in the city over the past few years, and Detroit is starting to see some progress. Inventive conversations are starting to take place, and change is on the minds of many. We are seeing Detroit become an entertainment destination with sports, eats, drinks, casinos and hotels. The city has promising development in the pipeline including light rail, business headquarters, retail and more. But all we see on the national news are excerpts from Kwame’s sext messages.

On April 26 th the Wall Street Journal boldly made the following statement...

They are calling it "PagerGate." It's a sex scandal involving Detroit's Democratic Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. It broke in January and, as details dribble out, residents are falling into a depression as deep as the one afflicting their economy.

Uhh. We’ll pass on the Prozac. We aren’t letting the mayor slow us down, so to prove it, we’re going to make our own headlines by DIGGING DETROIT!

Why 313rd? We were made in Detroit for Detroit. We take the name of Detroit, but bring the entire region together as a single market. Albeit 313rd is a site promoting the areas eats and drinks, we like to think we are an intelligent site that showcases the effort entrepreneurs are making to rebuild the city. Here’s to Detroit entrepreneurs.
